Fire & Smoke Dampers

LR
Fire & Smoke Dampers

The Holyoake LR fire smoke damper is specifically engineered for circular ductwork. It is one of the most versatile dampers in the Holyoake range — suitable for all four damper functions in a single model: fire, combined fire and smoke, smoke, and smoke exhaust. Installation requires no sealant and no fixings, using a patented clamping system for fast, clean site work.

The LR fire smoke damper features a low-leakage blade assembly with a blade tip sealing ring, forming an effective barrier against flames, smoke, and high-temperature gases. Each unit is supplied with mounting flanges, a jubilee clip, and a patented heat shield for plasterboard applications.

LR Fire Rating and Compliance

LR fire and smoke dampers have been tested in accordance with AS 1530.4:2014 and AS 1530.7:2007, maintaining integrity for up to four hours with smoke leakage below 50 l/s. Smoke performance meets the requirements of AS 1682.1:2015.

The LR is compliant with the Australian National Construction Code and the NZ Building Code Clause C3. Fire Resistance Ratings vary by damper size and installation type — see table below.

  • Tested to AS 1530.4:2014 — up to four-hour fire rating
  • Tested to AS 1530.7:2007 — smoke leakage to AS 1682.1:2015
  • Smoke leakage: below 50 l/s in testing

Fire Resistance Ratings by Installation Type

Model range Installation type FRR (–/integrity/–)
LR100 – LR250 Masonry walls/floors –/240/–
LR100 – LR250 Plasterboard walls, timber-framed floors, Hebel systems –/120/–
LR300 – LR350 Masonry, plasterboard, timber-framed, Hebel –/90/–

Installation

The LR uses a patented clamping system requiring only a flat-head screwdriver — no sealant, no additional fixings. Installation is permitted in horizontal or vertical plane.

  • No sealant required
  • No fixings required — clamping system only
  • Easy-test and reset fusible link
  • Adjustable blade for airflow balancing
  • Optional actuator for smoke damper functionality

Applications

The LR is the preferred specification for circular duct penetrations through fire-rated barriers in commercial construction. Typical applications include:

  • Circular supply and return duct penetrations through fire-rated walls and floors
  • Spiral duct systems in commercial and industrial buildings
  • Projects requiring smoke exhaust duty in circular ductwork
  • Installations in masonry, plasterboard, and Hebel construction
