Sydney Adventist Hospital has set a new benchmark for surgical environments in Australia with the installation of the country’s first locally manufactured Ultrasuite. Delivered by Holyoake’s specialist team, the project combined advanced airflow technology with critical operating theatre systems to create a state-of-the-art hybrid surgical environment. The result is a highly integrated operating theatre that supports advanced clinical procedures while establishing a new standard for healthcare facility performance.
Unique Design Considerations/Challenges
This hybrid operating theatre required the seamless integration of Ultrasuite, Stryker pendants, and Philips imaging equipment within the limited ceiling space typical of surgical environments. Coordinating complex structural, mechanical, and clinical systems demanded close collaboration across all project stakeholders.

The Outcome
Holyoake delivered an independent CFD assessment across multiple seasonal and climate scenarios. The analysis evaluated airflow patterns, comfort criteria, indoor air quality, and temperature distribution across warehouse and retail floors. While the overall HVAC strategy performed well, Holyoake recommended targeted diffuser adjustments that enhanced comfort consistency and reduced the risk of stagnant zones.
